Robin of Sherwood: The Complete Look-In Comics will return in January 2024 when the award-winning collection gets a “very limited” softback re-release. Originally released in 2022, publisher Chinbeard Books confirmed the new edition — available now from distributor AUK Direct — earlier in November.
For those unfamiliar, Robin of Sherwood: The Complete Look-In Comics collects the entire run of the ‘Robin of Sherwood’ comic strips published in Look-In Magazine between 1984 and 1986; running alongside the original television show. The strips have been expertly restored by Robert Hammond (who also provides a new cover illustration for this edition as well as his own written inserts), alongside commissioning editor Barnaby Eaton-Jones, and Hooded Man author Andrew Orton.
“It’s taken a lot of months and a lot of chin-waggery to be in the position to be able to produce a softback version to allow those who missed it not to be paying silly money on eBay for a second-hand copy!” says Eaton-Jones, who described this release as the “last chance” for fans to get their hands on these iconic comic strips.
Also included in this collection is a foreword essay by noted comic book artist Lee Sullivan on illustrator Mike Noble; a man whose artwork makes up 95% of the included comics. The collection also includes work by Arthur Ranson and Phil Gascgogine.
Chinbeard Books has previously partnered with Andrews UK on The Tomorrow People: The Complete Look-In Collection. Volume 1 of that collection was made available to fans earlier this year, whilst Volume 2 is available for pre-order now alongside a new ‘Tomorrow People’ novel entitled The Tomorrow People: Changes.
Robin of Sherwood: The Complete Look-In Comics will be published in January 2024 by Chinbeard Books, in association with Rebellion Publishing and The Treasury of British Comics. Available to pre-order now from AUK Direct.
