Netflix has been buying into lots of different sectors of the creative world over the past few years and their most recent is the gaming industry. They have acquired Oxenfree developer Night School Studios in September and Stranger things 3: The Game developer Boss Fight Entertainment in March.
In recent events, Netflix has announced its plans to not only buy existing game developers but creating their own internal game company. Amir Rahimi, Vice President of Netflix Game Studios said “Today, I’m excited to announce that we are establishing an internal games studio in Helsinki, Finland. This is another step in our vision to build a world-class games studio that will bring a variety of delightful and deeply engaging original games”.
There is still no word on the games they have in mind for this new studio and Rahimi claimed that we won’t be finding out anytime soon as its still early days for this development and they look forward to share what they produce in the coming years.
