The nominees for the 2023 Game Awards, an award ceremony recognising outstanding achievements in the video game industry, have been announced. The award ceremony will be steamed live from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California on December 7th 2023; with more than a few prominent announcements expected throughout the show as well.
Baldur’s Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 have both received eight nominations heading into this year’s Game Awards, with both titles up for the ‘Game of the Year’ prize. PlayStation 5 exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Capcom’s highly acclaimed remake of Reisdent Evil 4, and two Nintendo titles; Super Mario Bros. Wonder and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom also made the list.
In fact, Nintendo has the most nominations of any company represented at the awards with 15 total nominations across all of its games. PlayStation comes in second with 13, whilst Microsoft (which now includes Activision Blizzard as well as Bethesda Softworks) has 10.
Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a resurgence with several nominations including for ‘Best Ongoing Game’ courtesy of it’s Phantom Liberty add-on, and ‘Best Performance’ for Idris Elba. Elsewhere, Hi-Fi Rush has also picked up a number of nominations including ‘Best Score and Music’, EA’s remake of Dead Space has been nominated for ‘Best Audio Design’, whilst The Last of Us’ television adaptation has been given a nod as well.
The Game Awards 2023 will stream live on December 7th on YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, TikTok Live, and X (a.k.a Twitter), amongst other prominent platforms, from 7:30pm EST / 4:30pm PST / 12:30am GMT (December 8th).
