Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool returns in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ where Marvel’s ‘merc with a mouth’ stars alongside Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
In a trailer that debuted on Superbowl Sunday, eager Marvel fans got their first look at ‘Deadpool 3’ and the first appearance of both Deadpool and Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The trailer confirms that the third Deadpool movie will be titled ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’, and hints at how how the popular character will make his way into the MCU.
The trailer shows members of the TVA, the multiverse overseers first introduced in Marvel’s ‘Loki’ series on Disney+, tracking down Deadpool (a.k.a. Wade Wilson). Deadpool can then be seen clashing with TVA operatives in a variety of locations. At one point Deadpool even quips: “Your little cinematic universe is about to change forever. I’m the messiah. I…am…Marvel Jesus.” — owing to the character’s knack for breaking the fourth wall.
Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine only makes a (very) brief appearance in the trailer, as the character’s signature yellow and blue suit, synonymous with the X-Men comics and popular animated series, can be seen in the closing shot. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ marks the ninth appearance of Jackman as the Wolverine character, having last played the role in 2017’s ‘Logan’.
Other high-profile cameos are expected throughout the film, with Deadpool seemingly set to travel the Marvel multiverse. Fans don’t have long to wait either, as ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ hits cinma as on July 26th.
