Baldur’s Gate 3 won big at The Game Awards 2023, taking home six awards on the night, including Game of the Year. The game also won Best RPG, Best Multiplayer, Best Community Support and the Players’ Voice award awards. Meanwhile, actor Neil Newbon took home the award for Best Performance for his role as Astarion in the game.
The Larian Studios developed RPG faced stiff competition from Alan Wake 2, with both games earning themselves eight nominations. The Remedy developed survival horror game would take home awards for Best Narrative, Best Art Direction and Best Game Direction.
Now in its tenth year, The Game Awards recognises the best and brightest people and projects in the video game industry whilst also showcasing forthcoming games from developers across the world.
Amongst the surprises on the show was God of War Ragnarok‘s ‘Valhalla’ content (launching December 12th), Marvel’s Blade, which will be developed by Arkane Lyon (Deathloop, Dishonored), and OD — a brand new horror game from Hideo Kojima that will see the legendary video game developer and creator of Metal Gear Solid collaborate with acclaimed horror director Jordan Peele.
The Game Awards 2023 was streamed across multiple platforms including YouTube, Twitch, Facebook and TikTok to thousands of viewers watching at home. You can watch a full recap of the 2023 award ceremony here.
